Overview
Import Export Code (IEC), is a unique 10-digit code issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) that allows a person or business to import or export goods and services from India. Essentially, it is a mandatory registration for any entity engaged in international trade. Without an IEC, you cannot export or import legally. Banks and customs authorities will not process transactions. Any business entity regardless of the size of the business with no or minimum investment limit and no upper limit for goods & service value that can be imported or exported.
